The fourth anniversary of the Trikaripur Miyawaki Forest at Nadakkavu was celebrated with great enthusiasm. Planted in 2020 by the Trikaripur Grama Panchayat with support from Folkland International Centre for Folklore and Culture and CSR backing from Dorf Ketal Chemicals India, this forest was Kerala’s first Miyawaki initiative led by a local body. Spanning two cents and home to 400 diverse trees, it stands as a model for urban afforestation. The celebration began with a site visit and was followed by a formal function. Dr. V. Jayarajan, Chairman of Folkland, inaugurated the event with an address on Folkland’s afforestation initiatives. The event was presided over by Mr. V.K. Bava and inaugurated by Dr. V. Balakrishnan, Member Secretary, Kerala State Biodiversity Board, who lauded the Panchayat and Folkland for their environmental contributions. Notable speakers included Panchayat members, BMC representatives, Haritha Kerala Mission officials, and ecological experts. A touching highlight was the performance of a conservation-themed song by singers Sudha, Latha, Theertha, and Pavithran, with lyrics by Mohan Udinur. The song left a lasting impression, reinforcing the message of ecological preservation.
