The concluding event of World Heritage Week 2025 featured a heritage trail on North Kerala’s ancient water systems, organized by INTACH in collaboration with Folkland. Starting from Cheruvathur Raman Chira, the trail explored traditional water structures such as rock tunnels, Tirthakuls, Madaka, and the A Tor tunnel, highlighting their ecological wisdom and relevance to contemporary challenges like water scarcity and climate change. At the concluding session in Perla, environmentalist Sri Padre and Dr. V. Jayarajan emphasized the urgent need to preserve and document these neglected water heritage systems. The trail served as a strong reminder of the enduring value of traditional water knowledge for a sustainable future.
