Folkland International Centre for Folklore and Culture celebrated International Women’s Day with a culturally meaningful programme supported by the CSR initiative of Dorf Ketal Chemicals India. Presided over by Dr. Anila Sunil with Prof. E. Pushpalatha as Chief Guest, the event honoured distinguished women artists who have contributed to the preservation of Intangible Cultural Heritage. The honourees included Shyamala Surendran (Mohiniyattam & Bharatanatyam), Ammini Chandralayam (Theatre), Seetha Sasidharan (Bharatanatyam), Balkis Rasheed (Mappila pattu), Divya Jagdish (Bharatanatyam & Costume/Embroidery Art), Kseniia Steppanova (Mohiniyattam & Bharatanatyam – Russia), and Renjini K. S (Nokkuvidya Puppetry). A special highlight was the rare Nokkuvidya demonstration by Renjini K. S, showcasing the richness of India’s traditional performing arts and the empowering role of women in sustaining cultural heritage.
